Dr. Nuala Lucas is a Consultant Anaesthetist at London North West University Healthcare Trust. Her major interest is obstetric anaesthesia. She is the President-elect of the Obstetric Anaesthetists’ Association and chairs the Education Subcommittee. Nuala is the anaesthetic co-lead for the UK Confidential Maternal Death Enquiries (MBRRACE-UK). She is a senior editor for the International Journal of Obstetric Anesthesia. Her research interests include airway management in obstetric anaesthesia and complications of obstetric anaesthesia. In 2020 she was awarded an MBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours for services to anaesthesia during the COVID19 pandemic. In 2021 she was awarded the Featherstone Professorship by the Association of Anaesthetists.

Director, Anesthesia for Bronchoscopic Surgery, Director and QIO, Center for Sedation, | Departments of General Anesthesiology and Outcomes Research, Cleveland Clinic, USA Basem B. Abdelmalak, MD, FASA is a professor of anesthesiology at Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine. He has served in the Department of General Anesthesiology as a Staff Anesthesiologist since 2001. Currently he leads Anesthesia Services for Bronchoscopic Surgery as a NORA service and is the Director of the Center for Sedation implementing the anesthesiology oversight for procedural sedation. He frequently performs the Therapeutic Whole Lung Lavage procedure to treat pulmonary alveolar proteinosis patients.

Dr. Abdelmalak is board-certified in Anesthesiology and fellowship trained in Critical Care medicine. His many clinical interests include anesthesia for ENT and bronchoscopic surgery, difficult airway management.

He served the Ohio Society of Anesthesiologists as its president in 2015 and currently serves the American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) as the Vice-chair of the educational track subcommittee on Ambulatory Anesthesia, the Society for Head and Neck Anesthesia (SHANA), as a founding member, and its president.

Dr. Lorenzo Ball, born 1984, is Assistant Professor in Anesthesia and Intensive Care at the University of Genova and Intensivist at the Intensive Care Unit of Policlinico San Martino Hospital in Genova, Italy.

He obtained his PhD degree at the University of Amsterdam, The Netherlands. His main areas of research and clinical activiy are focused on respiratory failure, respiratory monitoring and mechanical ventilation in the intensive care unit and the operating room.

Ellen O'Sullivan trained in anaesthesiology and intensive care in UK and USA and is now a Consultant Anaesthesiologist at St James’s Hospital Dublin, Ireland affiliated to Trinity College Dublin. She specializes in airway management and is Director of the Fellowship in Advanced Airway Management and Simulation.

She is Past President of the Difficult Airway Society and was appointed DAS Professor of Anaesthesia & Airway Management.

Prof O’Sullivan is Past President of the College of Anaesthesiologists of Ireland and is now Airway Lead Advisor to the College & runs the CAI national airway training. She has a substantial portfolio of clinically relevant research and has co-authored more than 140 scientific papers (H-Index 22), books, website modules etc Clinically she has developed a worldwide reputation in airway management and has lectured and taught workshops internationally. She was a member of the ASA Task Force on Management of the Difficult Airway and also sits on the Project for Universal Airway Guidelines Group (PUMA) guideline group. She is an Executive Director of WAAM (World Alliance for Airway Management) and co-chaired the World Airway Meeting, WAMM1, in Dublin 2015 and WAMM2 in Amsterdam 2019. A particular interest of Prof O’ Sullivan’s is Global Anaesthesia and supporting education and training in low & middle income countries. This has led to her involvement in a number of projects in Malawi & Uganda including the Global Capnography Project (GCAP)

David Vaughan is a consultant anaesthetist at Northwick Park and St Marks Hospitals in Middlesex. He qualified and trained in London and was appointed as a consultant to lead the head and neck anaesthesia service.

His research and teaching interests are videolaryngoscopy, complex and awake airway management and the obstetric airway. He is an active member of DAS with whom he was an author on the awake intubation guidelines and acts regularly as an advanced airway skills trainer for DAS, the Royal College of Anaesthetists and the Association of Anaesthetists.

He is a lifelong Crystal Palace fan and views their continuing Premiership status with deep suspicion. He spends his spare time watching rugby, walking, playing tennis badly, going to the theatre and wishing there was more time in life to do these things. His wife is a remarkably tolerant woman.

Dr. Hegazy is currently a Consultant Intensivist & Department Head of the Cardiac Surgery Intensive Care Unit (CSICU) at Madinah Cardiac Centre, Madinah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA). He also maintains a part-time position as a Critical Care Consultant and Anesthesiologist with London Health Sciences Center and is an Associate Professor at the University of Western Ontario, London, Ontario, Canada

He completed his Anesthesia Residency and Clinical Fellowships in Cardiac Anesthesia, Neuroanesthesia, and Critical Care Medicine at Western University, Canada. He was subsequently appointed as Assistant Professor at the Department of Anesthesia and Perioperative Medicine at Western University with a cross-appointment to the Division of Critical Care Medicine, Department of Medicine on July 2014. During his time as Assistant Professor, he completed a Masters of Public Health from the Harvard School of Public Health in 2018. He then worked briefly as a Teaching Assistant at Harvard in 2018. He was subsequently promoted from Assistant to Associate Professor at Western University, Canada in July 2021. He relocated to Saudi Arabia in July 2022. He held the position of Medical Director of the CSICU at King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Centre in Riyadh, KSA until July 2024. Subsequently, he relocated to Madinah Cardiac Centre (MCC), Madinah, KSA. He is currently the Department Head of the Cardiac Surgery ICU at the MCC.

Dr. Hegazy maintains a varied clinical practice in the areas of General Critical Care, Cardiac Critical Care, and Anesthesia. He held multiple leadership roles in both the Division of Critical Care Medicine and the Department of Anesthesia at Western University. He served as the Critical Care Competence-Based Medical Education Lead and was the inaugural Chair of the Competence Committee for the Division of Critical Care Medicine. He also served as the Education Director for the Cardiac Surgical Intensive Care Unit for many years. He is dual Royal College certified in both Critical Care Medicine and Anesthesiology. He is a clinician-teacher and his areas of interest include critical care ultrasound, postcardiac arrest care, and cardiac critical care. He is also an active researcher who has published multiple research articles and numerous book chapters.

Dr. Egan completed his undergraduate education at Brigham Young University, graduating Magna Cum Laude in the humanities. He attended medical school at the University of Utah School of Medicine where he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha academic honor society. After completing a preliminary general surgery residency at the University of Utah, Dr. Egan sought postgraduate training in anesthesiology and critical care which he completed at Stanford University. Following residency he pursued fellowship training in clinical pharmacology also at Stanford. He recently completed intensive physician executive training at the Harvard School of Public Health.

Dr. Egan is currently staff physician and chair at the Department of Anesthesiology at the University of Utah Health Sciences Center. His clinical practice focuses on neurosurgery and obstetric patients. He is past President of the Medical Staff and Chairman of the Medical Board, and served for over a decade as the Chief of Neuroanesthesia.

Institute Chair for Anaesthesia and Critical Care at the Cleveland Clinic London since 2019 and Academic Professor of Anesthesiology at the Cleveland Clinic Lerner Institute of Medicine. He was previously a Consultant and lecturer in anaesthesia and critical care in St Georges University hospital in London for 19 years. He is a Past President of the Association for Cardiothoracic Anaesthesia and Critical Care in the UK and a previous editor of the British Journal of Anaesthesia Education and Echocardiography Research and Practice. He led the Royal College of Anaesthesia ‘Guidelines for Providers of Cardiothoracic Anaesthesia’ for a few years with an interest in quality and the external review process. He is an author of the two international cardiac ERAS guidelines, first published in JAMA and a founder member of the cardiac ERAS advisory group. He was a current member of the EACTAIC and ESICM echo sub-committees and has helped in the successful establishment of the ESICM EDEC echocardiography accreditation. Nick has published over 100 peer reviewed articles and chapters and has been invited to lecture at ACTACC, EACTAIC, ESAIC, SCA, ESICM, IACTA conferences amongst others. He is recognised for his national and international leadership in cardiothoracic anaesthesia and critical care, cardiac ERAS, haemodynamics, clinical quality, echocardiography, research and education.

Avery Tung, MD, FCCM, an anesthesiologist and intensivist, has been appointed Chief of the Section of Critical Care in the Department of Anesthesia & Critical Care (DACC), effective July 1, 2021. He has served as the director of critical care services for the University of Chicago Medicine’s Burn and Complex Wound Center from 1998 to 2019 and has been the Quality Chief for the department of Anesthesia since 2007.

Tung is a past President of the Society of Critical Care Anesthesiologists (SOCCA) and past Chair of the Critical Care Educational Track of the American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) annual meeting. He has contributed broadly to the improvement of critical care through other leadership roles, including ASA guideline task forces for procedural sedation, difficult airway management and central line insertion, and the 2013 SCCM task force for guidelines for pain, analgesia, and delirium management in the ICU.

He has served on the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s anesthesiology and respiratory therapy devices panel and the general hospital and personal use devices panel and on the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services technical expert panel for sepsis outcome measures. Dr. Tung is a Fellow of the American College of Critical Care Medicine, a prestigious credential that demonstrates a commitment to critical care excellence.
